We love restaurants. We built Q to make going out easier
For decades, restaurants have had two practical ways to manage arrivals: take reservations, which give guests a commitment in advance, or welcome walk-ins and manage a changing list at the door.
Both have their place. But not every restaurant is built around reservations — and guests at walk-in restaurants still want to know what to expect before they leave home.
There had to be a better middle ground
Q began with a familiar experience: calling a restaurant, getting the best answer a host could give, and then deciding whether to hurry over or take your chances somewhere else.
The restaurant was not doing anything wrong. A host cannot promise what the dining room will look like 30 minutes from now. But with phones in everyone's hands, we believed guests could know more before they go—and restaurants could welcome them without giving up control of their front door.
Built with restaurants, not just for them
We developed Q by working alongside hosts, managers, and owners—learning what actually happens when the phone is ringing, the dining room changes, and a new party walks through the door.
That is still how we work. Q is built to help restaurants run the way they run, while giving guests a better start to their experience.
The guest experience starts before guests walk through your door
